Chou mein Recipe: Choumein is a prominent Chinese cuisine that is likely stir-fried noodles mixed with a number of vegetables like cabbage, bell peppers, onions, beans, carrots, chilies, etc. spiced with different types of sauces like red chili sauce, green chili sauce, soya sauce, tomato sauce, and vinegar. It’s an easy-to-make dish. You may certainly like this quick recipe of chou mein.

 

INGREDIENTS

  • Noodles
  • 1 tbsp Salt
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • Chilli powder
  • Ground black pepper
  • cabbage
  • Green and red capsicum
  • shredded carrots
  • Sliced onions
  • spring onions
  • Chopped green chilies
  • Chopped garlic
  • French beans
  • soya sauce
  • chili sauce
  • vinegar
  • tomato ketchup

 

PREPARATION

  • Boil water in a large container with some salt and olive oil. Add noodles, when the water starts boiling. Boil until the noodles are almost cooked. Don’t overcook the noodles.
  • Strain the noodles and discard the water. Rinse noodles with running water till noodles are thoroughly cooled to stop cooking.
  • Sprinkle some vegetable oil on the noodles until the oil coats the noodles evenly to stop the noodles from sticking to each other. Keep the noodles aside.
  • Heat oil in a large container and add diced garlic. Saute for a minute.
  • Add the sliced onion and saute until it turns golden brown.
  • Add bell peppers, shredded cabbage, carrot, and green chilies.
  • Stir fry on high flame for 2-3 minutes or until the vegetables are semi-cooked.
  • Now add all the sauces, vinegar, salt, black pepper, and chili powder, and mix.
  • Stir fry the veggies with sauce for a few minutes on high heat.
  • Add boiled noodles to the container.
  • Then stir and mix until the sauces evenly coat all the noodles. Stir fry the noodles to add a smoky flavor while getting mixed with the sauces and vegetables.
  • Eventually, add spring onions and mix.
  • Enjoy your flavorful chow mein.

 

Note: We can store the recipe of chou mein in an airtight container and refrigerate it for 2 to 3 days.
